Cutting all by myself

We've been in 'school' for over a month now! Can you believe it? It is so encouraging to see how well the kids are doing and how much they have learned. We are getting much better at shapes, and even beginning to master naming our colours! The biggest area of improvement has been in their attention spans and fine motor skills. They are all getting to be able to sit still and, mostly, follow directions now. I love how much Potato is concentrating as he cuts and glues in these pictures!

Our day starts off at 8 with prayers in the house, and then we go to "school" and do Singing, Exercises, Music time, and a Bible Story (alternating between the old and new testaments each week) and then a Bible Activity. On Thursdays, we also include a 'cooking' segment! The kids LOVE being able to eat what we've made. And, for those who remember the Turtle Den days - we have not had to resort to sticking anything to paper with sugar glue yet!

9:00 is snack time and outside play. Mostly they get to do free play here, but occasionally we'll do a gross motor game. I need to get better at including more of those in our day. If they are especially grumpy then they get to go lie down for 30 minutes before we go back to school. From 10-11 we do our "theme" for the week (this week is the Weather) and do an activity based on the theme. The little kids then go back and have free play, while my Princess and I do a more complex activity to keep her on track as she turns 4 in May!

After lunch they have naps, and then each of the little ones gets an afternoon to themselves during the week, where we work on things that need one-on-one attention. My Princess and I have started going to the library on a Thursday, where we pick out books for the next week's theme.

The kids are enjoying themselves so much, and their vocab, self-expression, cognitive reasoning and fine motor abilities are really picking up!
