This week we've been learning about the seasons, and we couldn't leave out my favorite seasonal phenomenon just because we live somewhere that it only snows every 10 years. So, inspired by a St. Andrews University tradition (see Mom and Dad? I told you that degree would come in handy), we cheated.
A R19 can of shaving foam gave us an hour of messy fun, and there's even some left for next time! The kids aren't usually allowed to get dirty, so it took about 10 minutes of just smearing the "snow" on the table, but then our little guy decided to try and taste it. It was gross, but made a very attractive beard! Eventually even my Princess was convinced to join in, and had to get some on Mommy too, just to make sure I didn't miss out on the fun.
We also played around with drawing in the "snow" on the table (that's my very arty snowman above) and my Princess showed off her new skill of writing the letter "V". The girls are getting very good at identifying the seasons now, although they are still convinced that Ice Cream should NOT be restricted to a summertime treat.
I am so excited about showing my girl REAL snow in December. Here's hoping that there will be some waiting for us!
